Vietnam – Saigon – A walking tour through the Colonial Quarter

Vietnam is one of Asia’s most fascinating destinations. Its capital is Hanoi but its biggest city is Ho Chi Minh – otherwise known as Saigon. This sprawling metropolis is a fascinating mix of old and new.
We had ventured to Saigon with Thailand’s premium low cost carrier, Nok Airlines, to commemorate their first flight to Vietnam. On our Boeing 737 800 we were joined by other media and the Nok Airlines team for a discover tour of their newest destination.

  1. Just to add that the Central Post Office in Saigon was built (from 1886 to 1891) by the French architect Alfred Foulhoux (b.1840, d.1892). Foulhoux designed several other buildings in Saigon as well.

  2. Sorry to say so, but the Statue of Liberty was NOT designed by Gustave Eiffel, but by a sculptor from Colmar in France, Monsieur Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi (b.1834, d.1904). Gustave Eiffel (b.1832, d. 1923) provided the internal structural elements.
